BOTOX

BOTOX, manufactured by Allergan, is a purified preparation of botulinum toxin that is injected in very dilute amounts into the muscles of facial expression.

Botox has been called a "wonder drug" due to the fact that it is extremely effective, very safe if properly administered, and results in "“no down-time" improvement in wrinkles caused by facial expression.

Botox is currently FDA approved for use in the frown lines between the eyes. The most commonly treated "off-label" areas include the "crow's feet" wrinkles (seen beside the eyes when smiling), and the forehead lines. Many other areas have been treated "off-label" with success, including lip lines and neck lines.

Botox has also been used for the treatment of hyperhidrosis (excessive perspiration) of the palms and soles and the underarm area.
