CHEMICAL PEELS

Chemical peeling is a popular technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. Peels are classified as superficial, medium depth, or deep depending on the chemical used and the application technique. Of the millions of chemical peels performed each year, most are superficial and have no "down time". Deeper peels produce a greater effect on the skin, but require a longer recovery time.  A thorough evaluation by your dermatologist is necessary to determine the correct type of chemical peel program for your individual skin.

Chemical peels are typically used to improve texture and tone of the skin. Fine wrinkles and pigmentation caused by sun damage, aging and hereditary factors can be reduced with this procedure. Certain types of acne also respond very well to chemical peel programs. Chemical peels cannot remove loose or sagging skin and cannot remove deep scars. Check with your dermatologist to see if chemical peeling would be a good option for your skin.
