RESTYLANE

Restylane, is a filler substance derived from naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. It is FDA approved for injection into the nasolabial folds, which are the lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth. Popular "off label" uses include adding volume to the lips and corners of the mouth. As we age, we tend to lose volume in many areas of the face, creating lines and folds. Restylane helps to restore lost volume and diminish the appearance of these lines.

Restylane has become a popular alternative to collagen injections and has several advantages over collagen. Unlike collagen, no allergy testing is necessary for Restylane. Restylane also lasts longer, typically up to 6 months or sometimes longer, compared with less than 3 months for collagen.

If properly injected by an experienced dermatologist, Restylane is extremely safe and effective. Injections are done with a fine gauge needle and local or topical anesthetic may be used for added comfort.
